of the Dana System

1. What is the UKMBA Trust Fund Unit about?

The Trust Fund was started by a group of UKM Buddhist graduates with the aim of providing assistance to genuinely needy undergraduates. This will provide opportunities for the graduates to partake in merit making through a system which will emphasis the channelling of funds, skill, idea, time or any other material apparels from the haves to the have-nots.

There are be three (3) types of fund under the UKMBA Trust Fund Unit, namely:-

(1) Study grant

(2) Research grant

(3) Cultivation fund

2. Tell me more about the Study Grant

There will be two recipients in each academic year unless otherwise determined by the Panel, depending on the sustaining capability of the fund.

Each recipient receives an amount of RM 900.00 in an academic year.

The amount as stated above may change in view of the changes in expenses to pursue his education and the sustaining capability of the fund. This will be decided by the panel.

Application for the fund will have to be renewed annually.

3. What about the Research Grant ?

There will be one recipient in each academic year unless otherwise determined by the Panel depending on the sustaining capability of the fund.

Each recipient receives an amount of RM 700.00 in an academic year.

The amount as stated above may alter in view of the changes in expenses to pursue his education and the sustaining capability of the fund. This will be decided by the panel.

Application for the fund will have to be renewed annually.

4. And the Cultivation Fund ?

Each year, RM 1000 is allocated for the Cultivation Fund.

The fund is intended for UKM undergraduates for the purpose of their cultivation activities such as Buddhist camps and meditation retreats.

The amount for each recipient is decided on a case by case basis.

5. Am I qualified to apply?

Application for all the funds is opened to all undergraduates of UKM, regardless of race or religion.

Short-listed applicants, if the need arises, are required to attend interviews by the Trust Fund Panel.

6.  How do I apply for the Study Grant or the Research Grant?

8. When do I need to submit the Application Form?

9. Do I need to pay the Trust Fund Unit back?

Of course not. This is a dana, or gift, on the part of our UKM Buddhist graduates, so you need not worry about paying back.

However, you are encouraged to contribute back to the Trust Fund Unit upon obtaining your salary so that you may benefit others in return. This is, of course, voluntary.
